Maine Genealogy Resources

Here are the resources I've found most useful for genealogical research in Maine. This page is always being updated as I discover new tools and please don't hesitate to submit additions or inform me about broken links.

Cary Library - this is a wonderful resource if you are researching Aroostook County families. They have an extensive genealogy database.

Lewiston Public Library - another library that offers an online database of genealogical information.

Maine & Maritime Canada Genealogy - this is a Google+ community run by Pam Beveridge. She provides interesting links to to the history of Maine and the Canadian maritime.

Maine GenWeb - the GenWeb Project is broken down by state, county, and town. It's worth visiting their pages to see what local resources are provided.

Maine Memory Network - you can also help participate in this wonderful project. The Exhibits are full of documents and photographs. Use the search function to find a particular town of interest.

Maine State Archives - this site is mostly photographs and maps. They direct you to Family Search for court, military and naturalization records.

Walter T. A. Hansen Library - if you are researching Aroostook County families, this is an excellent resource. Use the search function to look up surnames.
