Nova Scotia Genealogy Resources

Here are the resources I've found most useful for genealogical research in Nova Scotia. This page is always being updated as I discover new tools and please don't hesitate to submit additions or inform me about broken links.

Nova Scotia Archives - the Archives includes both historical and genealogical information.

Nova Scotia GenWeb Project - the GenWeb Project is broken down by province, county, and town. It's worth visiting their pages to see what local resources are provided.

Nova Scotia Historical Newspapers Online - you can find a variety of Nova Scotia newspapers here. I'm hoping their holdings will grow!

Nova Scotia Historical Vital Statistics - a free searchable database of births, deaths, and marriages in Nova Scotia. Absolutely recommended for anyone with ancestors or family in the province. There are some gaps in the coverage, but you will not find a more comprehensive online resource for Nova Scotia vital records.

St. Ann, Guysborough - although this database is available via the GenWeb project, I have to get it a shout-out. This site has extensive parish records for St. Ann in Guysborough from 1819 to 1938.
